SOS Children’s Villages has been supporting the most
vulnerable children and families throughout Greece since 1975. Due to the financial
crisis and the influx of refugees, SOS has increased activities in the
country. Today, we operate 12 Family Strengthening Programs, 4 Villages
providing family-based care, 2 Youth Programs, and Emergency Relief Programs,
which aid refugee children and families. Through our programs,
we supported over 2,700 people in Greece last year.
Family Based Care: For children who are unable to stay with their parents or do not
have parents, SOS has 4 Villages where 110 children are currently growing up in
a safe and loving SOS Family.
Family Strengthening Programs: FSPs provide a wide range of integrated support services to
vulnerable families to prevent family breakdown and ensure sustainable
long-term solutions for families and the surrounding community. In 2017, we
supported 939 families through our 12 FSP programs.
Youth Support: SOS supports youth until they are ready and able to live
independently by providing them with housing, access to education, vocational
training and internships. With the guidance of qualified counselors, young
adults can prepare for an independent life in our youth houses in Thessaloniki
