Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraiser. As some of you know, I will be graduating from John Jay College this December. After I am done, I will travel to South East Asia, specifically Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Partially for vacation, but primarily because I want to visit a very special young person. But let me back up a little.

When I was 18 years old, I had this passion to give back to someone who could really use my help. After looking into several charity organizations, SOS-Children’s Village was the best organization for me and here is why. When you support this organization, you become the sponsor of one particular child (or multiple if you choose to). For as little as $35 a month, you can support a young child and provide for their tuition and living costs. Isn’t this incredible? Just $1 a day provides children in these villages with warm meals, a roof over their head, and education. The kids generally stay there until they are between 18 and 21 years old at which point some of them get a job and start their own life or others go to university and continue their studies. The best part, and the reason why I decided to sponsor a child, was the fact that I get updates (including pictures) about my sponsored child twice a year and we even exchange letters and cards. On top of that, you actually get the opportunity to visit the child that you chose to sponsor in their village.

I am not trying to get you to sign up for anything, but if you ever wanted to give back to the community (even if it’s not your own immediate community), this is a great program!

But the reason for this fundraiser is a different one. As I said, I am going to Cambodia this winter to visit the young girl that I started sponsoring 7 years ago. She is now 14 years old and soon enough she will be too old for the program and ready to live her own life. But before that happens, I want to visit her in person. I already spoke with the organization and I am scheduled to visit her on January 27th, 2019 (YAY).
As part of my visit, I want to surprise the entire village and all the children with a donation, funded by my wonderful friends, colleagues and family. I set the goal at $1000, but every single dollar counts. Give as much or as little as you want, and even if you just share it with others, that’s already more than I could ask for. With that money, the village can buy much needed supplies for schools and housing and overall improve the quality of life for everyone.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. You can always reach me at my private email which is LO_SP@GMX.NET

Thank you SO MUCH for your generous donation!

All the best,
Lorenz
