Support Children in Greece

Hellenic American Leadership Council

Last year our community came together to provide much needed support to children and families throughout Greece. In just 50 hours we raised $50,000 for SOS Children's Villages. Over the next few weeks the total grew to $250,000 for SOS including the generous matching gifts from The Jaharis Family Foundation, Inc. and Nikos Mouyiaris.

The Jaharis Family Foundation has once again issued a matching challenge gift to SOS Children’s Villages, this time for $75,000! We are calling on the Hellenic Community to meet the match again this year. The children and families in Greece need our continued support!

Your generosity last year has provided hundreds of vulnerable children and families in Greece with much needed support. To date, SOS Chidlren’s Villages Greece has been able to open two new social centers, one in Peristeri, Athens, and one in Ioannina. Watch the opening of these Social Centers below. You made this happen! These communities centers have served over 300 families with services such as:
• Counseling for parents;
• Psychological support for children and families;
• Education assistance for children;
• Professional training for parents;
• Referral services for social, legal and health related issues;
• Material assistance including food, clothing, toiletries, etc. and
• Community awareness on issues relating to children’s rights.

In addition, the #HelpGreeceNow campaign allowed SOS to increase their food aid program by 540 families, bringing the total number of families served to 2,500 (3,850 adults and 4,230 children). Because of you, these families did not have to worry how they were going to feed their children this year. .

Let's join together this holiday season and do it again! The children and families in Greece are counting on us.
